Terms of Service

By accessing or using Hindsight (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you use the Service on behalf of someone else, you confirm you are authorized to accept these Terms for them.

Hindsight lets you store journal entries and, on request, generates AI analyses of them — summaries, recurring themes, an evolving “portrait,” and answers to questions you ask about your own writing. The Service is provided for personal reflection and self-understanding only. We may add, change, or remove features over time.

You must be at least 14 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country if that is higher, to use the Service. By using Hindsight you represent that you meet this requirement and that you are able to form a binding contract.

You are responsible for your account and for keeping access to your email secure, since sign-in relies on it. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. You may close your account at any time from Settings.

Your journal entries and everything you write remain yours. We do not claim ownership of your content. To run the Service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, transmit, and display your content back to you — and to send the relevant text to the AI and infrastructure providers described in our Privacy Policy strictly to generate the results you request.

This license exists only to operate the Service for you and ends when you delete the relevant content or your account, except for copies that remain briefly in routine backups. We do not use your journal content to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You agree not to: upload content you have no right to upload; use the Service to break the law or infringe others’ rights; attempt to access other users’ data or our systems without authorization; probe, scrape, overload, or reverse-engineer the Service; or resell or redistribute the Service without our written permission.

The analyses Hindsight produces are generated by AI from your own writing. They can be wrong, incomplete, or misleading, and they are offered for reflection only. They are not medical, psychological, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice, and they are no substitute for a qualified professional.

Do not rely on the Service for decisions about your health or safety. If you are in distress or crisis, contact a qualified professional or your local emergency or crisis line immediately. In Korea you can reach a mental-health crisis line at 1577-0199; in the US you can call or text 988.

The Service offers a free tier with monthly limits on analyses and on archive size, and may offer a paid “Pro” plan that raises or removes those limits. The current plans, prices, and limits are shown on our pricing page and may change; we will give notice of material changes and any change will apply going forward, not retroactively to a period you have already paid for.

If you subscribe to a paid plan, you authorize us, through our payment processor, to charge your selected payment method the stated fee on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel. Your subscription renews automatically each month; the renewal charge occurs on or around the same day you first subscribed. All prices are in Korean won (KRW) and include applicable taxes unless stated otherwise.

You may cancel at any time from Settings; cancellation stops the next renewal, and your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Because Pro is digital content that is made available immediately and used continuously, and consistent with Korea’s Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, fees already charged for a started billing period are generally non-refundable except where a refund is required by law or where the Service was materially unavailable due to our fault. We do not provide partial refunds for unused time within a period.

If a payment fails, we may suspend or downgrade your paid access until payment succeeds. You are responsible for keeping your payment details current.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if necessary to protect the Service or other users — where practical, with notice. On termination, your right to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as content ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.

The Service itself — its software, design, text, and branding (but not your content) — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable right to use the Service under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as the law allows.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any AI output will be accurate or reliable. Nothing in these Terms excludes rights that cannot be excluded under the mandatory consumer-protection laws that apply to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or KRW 50,000. This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, such as for our willful misconduct or gross negligence.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third party’s rights, to the extent permitted by law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be subject to the courts having jurisdiction over our place of business, unless mandatory law in your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere. Nothing here deprives you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection provisions that apply where you live.

We may update these Terms as the Service or the law changes. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
